We are excited to host Regional Competitions throughout the state.  Although these events will be smaller in numbers, we still hope to provide the full Special Olympics Minnesota experience which  may include Opening Ceremonies, FANstop, health activities, giveaways, competition and awards!

**Please note that no meals will be offered at competitions in 2021

Event details & restrictions

  • All participants must have current paperwork on file for practice and competitions including the COVID-19 waiver
  • All participants must be practicing with their delegation prior to competition and be registered through the online registration website.
  • No food or concessions will be provided. Please have participants bring their own food if needed.
  • Singles and Unified doubles offered
    • Participants can only compete in one event
    • Two games played with divisions of four or less athletes
    • Participants will be scheduled for a shift time to compete
    • Qualifying scores are required for registration
  • Participants can attend as many locations as possible
    • Priority will go to participants from the region where the competition is hosted
  • Return to Play guidelines must be followed at practice and competitions
    • Competitions may have a quota or be scheduled in shifts due to COVID size restrictions

English Events will start at 8:30 a.m.  Order will be English Showmanship at Bridle, English Equitation and English Obstacle.

Western Events will start when the English events are completed; there is no official start time.  Order will be Showmanship at Halter, Western Working Trail/Obstacle, Western Stockseat Equitation, Barrel Class and Pole Weaving.

There is no official end time to the show, it is dependent upon registrations and pace of the day.

Awards for English classes will be handed out at the completion of all English divisions are finished. Awards for Western classes will be handed out immediately following as each event and division finishes.

  • Delegations will need to provide their own horses for competition, no horses will be provided from the stable.
  • Delegations that arrive on Thursday will need to check-in and practice between 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. The cut-off time will be at 8 p.m. with no exceptions. If your delegation plans to arrive on Thursday, contact Dani Druse to let her know if you need stalls or bedding. Stalls are $20 and bedding $8/bag. The delegation will need to provide their own feed and buckets for water and clean the stalls before they leave.
  • Delegations should provide their own mounting blocks.
  • All events offered. Athletes can be registered for up to 4 events.
    • Qualifying levels are required for registration
    • 2021 Equestrian Patterns will be the same as 2019
    • Athletes who are from the same delegation and compete in the same event and age group will need to compete on different horses.
    • Virtual video entries will be accepted for those athletes that are unable to attend the competition. Please register for virtual events in online registration. Send an email with the link to the video file(s) and the athlete’s name and event to [email protected] by the registration deadline of Sunday, August 8. Participants in virtual events will receive a digital award via email for each event.
  • Return to Play guidelines must be followed at practice and competitions
  • No lunch or concessions will be provided by SOMN.

    • Traditional golfers will need to be able to golf independently without a cart because there may not be volunteers on site to keep score or drive carts.
    • Traditional golfers are recommended to have a caddie. Please review the Caddie Registration Form and Rules.
    • Participants can only compete in one event
    • Qualifying scores are required for registration
