Friday, Saturday & Sunday

In case of track and field event conflicts for an athlete, the track event always takes precedence. Please report the conflict to the field staging area so they do not to wait for the athlete. The athlete will be worked into a later division and their result will be awarded within the placement of their original competition division.

June 12 & 13 at Concordia University

State Gymnastics participants are still a part of Summer Games, including access to meals, Victory Village, Healthy Athletes and Celebration Ceremonies. Because the State Gymnastics meet is the weekend prior to all other Summer Games activities, any Gymnastics athlete or Unified Partner is eligible to compete in both gymnastics and one other Summer Games sport. (Athletes still need to qualify for Summer Games by competing at Area prior to State).

In 2019, clinical directors, medical students and volunteers saw 1,114 athletes go through 2,856 screenings. We also gave away almost 900 pairs of free shoes to Special Olympics Minnesota athletes! These numbers set new records for SOMN: We had more screenings in two days than in all of 2018 combined. Pretty impressive, right?

We can’t thank our athletes, coaches, parents and guardians enough for taking the time to wait (sometimes in long lines) for these extremely important and life-changing procedures. While attending to our athletes’ needs, we learned a lot about the process and plan to adjust the Healthy Athletes schedule and location to make it easier to access screenings in 2020.

We’ll announce the 2020 Healthy Athlete screening schedule and incentive item in March—stay tuned!
